As I drove to work this morning, I heard the song, "I'll Be." Here are the words:
The strands in your eyes that color them wonderful
Stop me and steal my breath.
Emeralds from mountains thrust toward the sky
Never revealing their depth.
Tell me that we belong together,
Dress it up with the trappings of love.
I'll be captivated, I'll hang from your lips,
Instead of the gallows of heartache that hang from above.
Chorus
I'll be your crying shoulder
I'll be love suicide
I'll be better when I'm older
I'll be the greatest event of your life
Rain falls angry on the tin roof
As we lie awake in my bed.
You're my survival, you're my living proof
My love is alive, not dead.
Tell me that we belong together
Dress it up with the trappings of love.
I'll be captivated, I'll hang from your lips,
Instead of the gallows of heartache, that hang from above.
Repeat Chorus
I've been dropped out, burned up, fought my way back from the dead
Tuned in, turned on, Remembered the things that you said.

These words somehow managed to catch me off guard and brought forth in me emotions that I didn't have time to prepare for or understand. It brought memories of days gone by, people long gone, and a lot of hypotheticals. And now, as I sit here in the quiet of evening, I can't stop thinking about those words or how they effect me or how to turn them back and push them away. It is amazing how words or a string or collection of words can cause us to think on things we wouldn't have thought about otherwise.
Meanwhile, a very fussy Liam has finally given it up and he and his mom have peacefully trundled off to bed. I think I'll go to my own space and lay my head to rest. Good night!
